Description Extended Information

Save yourself thousands in costly repairs! ThumperTalk Manual Cam Chain Tensioners (MCCT) are designed to replace the automatic and hydraulic tensioners found on today's hi-performance 4-stroke engines. Factory automatic adjusters can back out when the throttle is suddenly closed at higher rpms. This allows the cams to momentarily go out of time and can result in bent valves and/or serious engine damage! Hydraulic tensioners have a tendency to put too much tension on the chain guide under high rpm/high oil pressure conditions, resulting in premature cam chain wear. Installation of a ThumperTalk Manual Cam Chain Tensioner will allow you to maintain the proper, constant cam chain tension necessary for reliable hi-performance riding and it will not backout. Fits: 00-08 Suzuki/Kawasaki DRZ/KLX/LTZ/KFX400, Honda CRF250/450 & Suzuki GSX1300 Haybusa

manual cam chain tensioner February 17, 2008
Reviewer: chris from Pleasant Hill, CA United States
Like one of the previous reviewers, I also do my own work on my bikes.  The cam chain on my '01 S was noisier than I like and, I also like having a more fail safe system is in place ( I also did the kick start mod, primary nut fix and water pump seal mod).  Installation was very easy and the instructions were well written.  The worst part of the job for me was removing the access cover on the engine to allow me to rotate the crank (it was really stuck....).  Definitely well worth the effort and cost.

Loud knocking noise solved September 7, 2007

Very well made.   5 minute install and easy set-up.   Well worth the additional small expense over OEM replacement part cost.

I had 2, count them T W O stock Suzuki camchain tensioners break on my 2000 DRZ-400E. Yup, the second one was supposed to be the 'improved' model. Buy the manual one, install it and ride in peace.
Both times the engine was OK but the camchain itself subsequently suffered early failure, causing all sorts of internal damage.
How did I fix the problem? I parted out the DRZ and bought a KTM!

DRZ 400 Manual Cam Chain Tensioner May 9, 2007
Reviewer: Ron Petitt from Loveland, CO United States
I own a 2000 DR-Z400e (street legal) and was hearing an excessive amount of cam chain noise.  I am an experienced rider/mechanic and knew the stock automatic tensioner, while not broken, was not working as well as it should have.  I ordered the Thumpertalk manual cam chain tensioner on a Monday and received it two days later.  The quality was excellent and installation/adjustment was very straight forward and simple.  After a lengthy test ride involving both highway and off road, I can say the cam chain noise is greatly reduced and I am more comfortable not having to worry about the stock tensioner.  It as definitely money well spent.
